JobDirect ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the JobDirect mobile application and website (jobdirect.in).

By using JobDirect, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: When you first open JobDirect, we create an anonymous session so you can browse and search freely with no account required. If you choose to create an account, we collect the email address and password you provide.
• Profile information: Name, current role, years of experience, preferred sectors, preferred locations, job preferences, email address, phone number, and LinkedIn URL that you choose to provide.
• Resume data: The content of the resume you upload (DOCX or PDF format). This is used solely to generate AI match scores and resume suggestions. Your resume is processed on-device and via our secure API proxy. We do not store your resume on our servers permanently.
• Usage data: Information about how you interact with the app including jobs viewed, searches performed, and features used. This helps us improve the product.
• Device information: Device type, operating system, and push notification token for sending job alerts.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the JobDirect service
• Send real-time job alerts and daily digests matching your preferences
• Generate AI-powered match scores and resume suggestions
• Personalise your For You job feed based on your preferences
• Process subscription and in-app purchase payments via Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) and Google Play Billing (Android)
• Communicate with you about your account and service updates
• Comply with legal obligations

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your resume or profile with recruiters, employers, or any third party without your explicit consent.

JobDirect is a direct-to-company job platform. Your information is used only to improve your experience within the app.

4. AI processing

JobDirect uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude API) to generate match scores, resume suggestions, and career intelligence. When you use these features, relevant portions of your resume and job details are sent to our secure backend proxy, which communicates with the AI provider. This data is used solely to generate your requested output and is not stored or used for training AI models.

5. Data sharing

We share your information only with trusted service providers who assist in operating our service:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and push notifications
• Anthropic: AI processing for match scores and resume features
• Apple (App Store) / Google (Play Store): Payment processing for subscriptions and one-time purchases. We never receive, see, or store your card or payment details — all payment information is handled entirely by Apple and Google, and JobDirect only receives confirmation of a successful purchase.
• Railway: Cloud infrastructure for our backend services

These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@jobdirect.in.

Resume data processed through AI features is not stored permanently on our servers beyond the time needed to generate your requested output.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. All API communications use HTTPS encryption. Your Anthropic API key is stored securely in our backend environment and is never exposed to the client application.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Children's privacy

JobDirect is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for data processing
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of JobDirect after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
